SecureWALL comprises of several independent systems working together in unison. Each system is based on
Best-of-Breed technology and plays an essential role in enforcing one or more aspects of the acceptable Use and anti-virus policies.

Perimeter Security System

Perimeter firewall image With its unique Dual-Firewall and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) combination, SecureWALL delivers 360 degree perimeter security, to check and intercept covert attempts to access the system from outside the organisation or from within!. Any attempt to scan or penetrate the SecureWALL, will raise an immediate alarm and in the event of an malicious attack, it can instigate counter measures to neutralise the attack.

Web Site Filtering

Web filter image A mine of invaluable information and resources it may be, but the web is also a source of undesirable material from a business liability perspective. SecureWALL takes each user's request for information and checks whether the destination requested or the resulting web page contains suitable material for the user to receive. If not, it immediately blocks the source of the material and informs the user that it is not allowed. This ensures a more responsible and productive Internet use by employees.

E-mail Content filtering

E-mail filter image No one could envisage life without email. But how much time do we spend each day trolling through junk (spam) email distractions. Clearing user mail boxes of offensive, bandwidth consuming spam and other non-work related mail, will free up valuable time for the real work at hand. SecureWALL will ensure email sent or received, will be free from viruses and attach a legal disclaimer footer to all outgoing mail. The content of all incoming and outgoing email and attachments will also be screened for offensive remarks, jokes etc. An email filtering system may also be used to ensure confidential information cannot be mailed out of the organisation without the proper approval.

Gateway Anti-Virus System

Gateway antivirus Image As part of it's role, SecureWALL acts as a gateway for all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic and email. As this information passes through SecureWALL, it is vigorously screened for viruses, worms and Trojans, so you never receive, or inadvertently send, your customers a potentially harmful virus.

Desktop Anti-Virus System

Desktop antivirus image

As well as providing anti-virus protection for all internet traffic entering or leaving your network, you should also protect your network servers and workstations. Network Administrators need to lock-down client PCs so users cannot alter or disable their anti-virus software.

SecureWALL provides an optional * Desktop Anti-Virus Management System that will deploy and install the anti-virus software on to each individual PC, without any end user interaction. Regular updates to the anti-virus software are also discreetly pushed onto each PC, again without any user involvement

Intrusion Detection System

Intusion Detection Image Every company has a one or more individuals who believe that restrictions or company rules do not apply to them.
It has been known for such misguided individuals to try and circumvent company restrictions using commonly available hacking and scanning utilities. Such tools cause harm and disruption to internal servers and systems. SecureWALL employs the same Firewall and Intrusion Detection technology as used on the Internet, to protect and monitor activity on your internal private network. Once detected, details of an offending PC or user, are sent to the system administrator.

Activity Reports

Reporting System Image Even with proper policing there will be times when legitimate users can inadvertently abuse their privileges, such as a user sending or receiving large attachments who may ‘hog the highway’ for all other users and reduce Internet traffic to a crawl. Occasional checks on Internet usage will help ensure no one monopolises the facility unduly. Therfore in conjunction with our manged service an Activity Report is sent directly to the systems administrator, detailing who been going where for what and when.

Active Monitoring System

Active server monitoring image

SecureWALL uses a dedicated monitoring system to keep a constant check on the status of its core systems, and other essential services such as email, web hosting and communication links.

Should a core system or monitored service shut down unexpectedly, SecureWALL’s internal monitoring system would automatically detect and restart it, alerting the Administrator as necessary.

Internet User Management System

User Management Image For many users, Internet access and email is provided as a perk of the job, so long as it is not abused and does not interfere with their work. Deciding who can access the Internet, when they can access it and where they are allowed to go is controlled by SecureWALL's User Management System. For example, you may decide that by default every network user should be given access for browsing purposes but not for chat rooms, instant messaging, streaming video, mp3 sites or newsgroups. decide that everyone can have a 'courtesy' browse between 12 and 1 over lunch but only selected individuals will get full daily access.

360° Risk Assessment

Security management Image

Many (perhaps the majority) of companies who have encountered security issues, have so from the 'inside'. Although this may seem unlikely at first, it is actually the most common reported abuse. With the focus clearly on external security and intrusion detection via the front door, the back door can often be left unlocked and unchecked!

As you read this paragraph, there may well be several PCs, Laptops etc on your network that currently holding sensitive information, such as salary structures, redundancy shortlists, confidential documents etc, which could be exposed to the rest of the network via a Windows drive or directory 'share', possibly even a undetected Trojan Horse infection.

Security Management System

Could you honestly say all your employees would be 100% loyal and trustworthy when faced with rumours of redundancies, 'down-sizing', lower than expected pay rises, overlooked for promotion, or perhaps a new job with new loyalties!. It doesn't take much to go from being loyal to untrustworthy
and suddenly you may have an possible 'enemy within' looking to steal confidential customer or company information.

SecureWALL's optional 360° Vulnerability Monitoring System can perform a full Security Scan of every Server, PC, MAC and Laptop on the network and produce a detailed report on what vulnerabilities exist and what should be done to correct them i.e. drive and directory shares, backdoors, weak
passwords and other 'holes' etc.

As part of the Managed Service, an optional Quarterly Vulnerability Assessment can be performed on your internal network and on external facing systems to ensure your security remains effective and is shown to be so. This may be particularly important for reassuring customers or as part of a
BS-7799 compliance procedure.
